Our names are Ben and Keagan (aka Eenie and Oodie) Sweeney. We have autism and are both nonverbal, but that doesn’t mean we don’t understand you. We do. We can hear you too. Autism is part of who we are, a characteristic such as height or perfectionism. It makes us really good at some things and challenges us with others. Just like everyone else.
We have a business called “Way Beyond the Label”. We chose this name because we believe everyone, no matter how they are characterized, has a gift and we all benefit from sharing those gifts . There’s no need for boxes, labels, or tags; each of us is special and one of a kind. We are all extraordinary!
Often, though, the extraordinary in us goes unnoticed, or at least unencouraged. Way Beyond the Label is developing a program to recognize those in our community who go out of their way to do something exceptional that makes a difference in the lives of others. Together with the positive energy of kindness, patience, acceptance, and unconditional love, we can for sure make someone’s day a bit lighter, their smile a bit brighter, and encourage each other to leave behind a mark of love that will last a lifetime .
We at “Way Beyond the Label” customize and sell Digit Fidget Pocket Hoodies. They are hoodies with pockets which have surprises in them, a lining of textured fabrics to help our fingers fidget in private, while keeping hands warm and hearts happy. Our hope is that just as with the Digit Fidget Pocket hoodie, you are reminded to look within and see that we are all so much more than a label.
