Be Willing to be Truly Diverse

Sharing is caring!

One of my favorite things about Coyote Springs Elementary School is the willingness to be truly diverse. The principal, Candice Stump, and her staff want to provide consistent experiences with those whom have been shunned in much of our society. Today I was able to witness the beginning of a beautiful relationship.  My friends, Keegan and Joanna, from “Way Beyond the Label” joined me at the school to encourage CSES’s fearless leader in her acts that go “Way Beyond the Label“. Watch a few videos below to get a taste of how our morning went…

New Places and Old Experiences

Keegan takes some time getting used to a brand new place that brings up very difficult memories. The lights, sounds, and lack of familiarity are just a part of what this young woman is battling. School for her was not a pleasant experience, to say the least.

Just a Little Support Needed

We move into a quieter location for both sight and hearing. With a little assistance from her mom, Keegan can continue to strengthen herself to begin to conquer emotions brought up by just being in the building, even though this is not where she attended school.

Encouragement Goes a Long Way

Celebrating those who go out of their way to make sure all are included is what Keegan and her brother, Ben, want to do. This is the beginning of a wonderful relationship Coyote Springs Elementary will have with “Way Beyond the Label“. For years to come, Keegen and Ben will be supporting the school’s drive to inclusion.

It's Only the Beginning

Having a front seat view of how Keegan challenged herself was humbling. I can hardly wait to see what is to come and am thrilled to get to be a part of it. I am so blessed to be called her friend.
