A Place of Wonder: A Disney Devotion

Disney Devotion: A Moment of Wonder

Growing up, Disneyland was only a few hours away. For me, those trips weren’t just about rides or fireworks, they created moments of pure wonder. This whole Disney devotion began long before I had a name for it. As I grew older, Disney parks shifted from childhood fun to meaningful places in my story. For example, Kevin asked me to be his girlfriend under a now-gone waterfall, a spot that still lives in our memories. Later, we celebrated adoptions there. We even marked each child’s 13th birthday with a friend and a full day of magic. Because of all that, Disney has been stitched into our family story in the sweetest, most unexpected ways.

Even with all those memories, I’ve learned something important: Disney can’t offer lasting peace. Eventually, the parades end. The fireworks fade. The gates close for the night. The magic is real, but it’s temporary. However, the wonder God gives doesn’t fade. His presence turns the ordinary into something extraordinary, not only for a moment, but for a lifetime. When the magic settles and real life comes rushing back in, His peace remains.

Because of that, I’m reminded that even though I love Disney, Jesus is the One who carries me through every chapter. He is steady in the milestones, the chaos, the joy, and the seasons that feel heavier than I expected. Most of all, He is the real wonder my heart longs for.

As I write this Disney devotion, I’m reminded that the magic of a place can spark joy, but only God offers the kind of wonder that stays with us through every season.
