How We Do It
Strategies, Therapies, and Everyday Solutions
When I began my blog back in August of 2013, most of my writing focused on the heart of our family and our experiences with Down syndrome. Over time, as Jillian, Ben, and the rest of our crew have grown, I’ve realized the need for a space that shares not just our stories, but also the practical tools and strategies we use every day.
This section of Never Easy Always Good is designed as a kind of toolbox for special needs parenting, a place to find “how-to” ideas, therapy insights, and real-life solutions that make the challenges a little more manageable. Here you’ll discover posts like Challenges and Solutions and Therapy Thursday, along with resources we’ve found helpful along the way.
Challenges and Solutions:
Every family faces obstacles, but in a household touched by disability, those challenges can feel extra heavy. In this section, you’ll find honest reflections on the struggles we’ve faced—and the practical solutions, routines, and resources that have helped us move forward with hope.

Therapy Thursday:
Therapies are a huge part of our everyday life, from speech and occupational therapy to physical exercises and creative tools. Therapy Thursday is where I share hands-on tips, favorite resources, and simple strategies that make therapy not just doable, but meaningful (and sometimes even fun!).
Therapies can be hard to fit into already busy schedules, so can homework. I try to think outside of the box so we can still have family time. Here I asked Mrs. Kelsey, our physical therapist, if we could fit bread making into PT. As you can see, it was an “arm day” today.
